Brain Injury Cases

The majority of head injuries are minor. Fortunately, our brain is protected by the skull, which provides the brain with protection from most injuries. However, when a head injury becomes a problem, it can lead to devastating results. Many of the accidents which happen in our society involve head injuries and/or spinal cord injuries. Head injuries can be caused from a variety of settings ranging from automobile accidents to industrial accidents such as offshore injuries or work injuries.

Traumatic brain injury is a serious and potentially disabling injury. Persons with a severe brain injury often have problems with mental and physical functioning, and may require on-going medical supervision. This is often the result of a post concussion syndrome.

Persons, who have sustained a head or brain injury, may have permanent losses which make it unlikely that they would be able to return to their previous lifestyle, work and activities. This can occur even when there is no documented unconsciousness at the onset. Evaluation by a neuropsychiatrist and other medical professionals can help diagnose and treat these conditions.

Our firm has handled numerous cases involving head and brain injuries. Each head or brain injury case has characteristics that make it unique in demonstrating the person's deficits and loss. We are aware of the types of experts needed to prove a head or brain injury at a trial and understand how to demonstrate the effects of these types of injuries to a court or jury. We also have presented evidence concerning the cost of future medical care through the use of qualified experts including economists and life care planning experts.
