Viagra Lawsuit and Possible Link to Vision Loss
Currently, federal health investigators are looking into reports that the drug Viagra may have caused serious side effects in men using the drug - blindness. The FDA is currently investigating about 50 cases of vision loss possibly associated with the use of Viagra.
The condition, known as nonarteritic anterior ischemic optic neuropathy (NAION), causes a rapid reduction of vision and can, in the most serious cases, lead to blindness.
Dr Howard Pomeranz, co-author of a report on the condition published in the Journal of Neuro-ophthalmology in April, said the drug had long been linked to sight problems.
In all patients, the initial symptoms were blurred vision and some degree of vision loss. In one patient, both eyes were affected. In the remainder, just one eye was involved. Three patients had preexisting eye problems that may have increased their risk of NAION. If you have suffered vision loss as a result of Viagra, you may be entitled to compensation.
